If we are not this body what are we ? The body itself is insentient and has no capacity to experience itself. For example, an arm cannot experience its "armness" or a leg its "legness". Instead, the body is experienced through sensations, which are then experienced in the mind. The mind, in turn, cannot experience itself; a thought cannot experience its own "thoughtness" nor can a feeling experience its own "feelingness". There is a hierarchy of experience: Sensations of the body are experienced in the mind. The mind is experienced by consciousness. Consciousness is experienced by awareness. Therefore, what one really is, is several levels removed from the body. we are that which is aware within that infinite field of consciousness.
